Mina Afayee

Mina Afayee discovered her passion for equity in education while serving as a Data & Continuous Improvement Program Associate at the NYC Department of Education’s Office of Community Schools (OCS). During her time at OCS, she assisted school’s and partners on how to strategically use the New Visions Data Tools to reduce chronic absenteeism and offer supports such as success mentors to NYC’s most vulnerable population, students in temporary housing. She managed all user interface and data systems within the community schools network. Mina has also led a pilot program with key stakeholders at 10 NYC high schools through graduation planning and program implementation. Currently Mina is the School Outreach Coordinator for the National Education Equity Lab and working on the Harvard Extension School Poetry in America National Pilot.
